Jan at work

Revolution Mini Works

So, you want to make your MINI go fast? You want the most out of your car? If this sounds familiar, then look no futher that Revolution Mini Works and its owner Jan Brueggemann.

If you happen to be a member of North American Motoring you might have heard of Jan and his skills, but you might not know what it is that he dose exactly. Well the news this month is to inform what he dose and what the results can be.

I really only have starting points for my own '03 and my friends '06, both of which are S models.

First my car. I started at 174 H.P. and ended up with 202 H.P. What do I have mod wise? Well, here is the list. Alta V.1 CAI, Alta V.1 I.C., JCW 380 injectors, NGK Iridium spark plugs, Alta V.1 17% S.C. pelley, Alta 2% lightend crank, Catless custom header, and an Invidia Ti Catback. Now, I know that you might think my starting H.P. is low for that much stuff on my car, and that is what I thought. However, Jan informed me that the first couple of years the MINI engine was built in Brazil and there was almost no quality conrtol. He then proceeded to tell me that he has seen up to 20 H.P. difference from car to car, stock to stock. So I would assume that my car was one of the ones that had the H.P. on the low end out of the factory.

Anyway, I now have a 202 H.P. output. My friend who also got the tune done with me is putting out 211 H.P. to the wheels. So what is it that he dose to make such a difference? Well, it is simple really, he reprograms the E.C.U. of the car. Well, not really that simple, but he is really good at what he dose. He uses the dyno to gauge where you are at then with the cool program that he has, I have no idea what it is, he then goes through and adjusts the timing, air intake, and fuel to air ratio. He puts your car on a dyno 3 times, every time making adjustments to make the car run at its best.

So you might ask, if all that he dose is a reprogramming, why not get a UniChip? Well, here is the reason I went with a RMW tune instead of a Uni-chip. The Uni-Chip is a general product for multi use applications, the RMW tune is car specific. Now don't get me wrong, Uni-Chip is a fine product, but if you have the means to get yourself a RMW tune, it is well worth the money. You see, in my case I have a total of 19% reduction, and the Uni-Chip is only programed for 15%. I actually called them and they told me that if I wanted a chip I would have to get my car dynoed and the chip itself reprogrammed.

So what about if you take your car in for some work at the dealer and they decide to remap your E.C.U. back to stock conditions? No problem there, Jan keeps the maps that he dose for every car, all you have to do is contact him and is more that willing to find out a way to get you your map back on the car.

Some of his other work that he has done is a 295 H.P. MINI and just as of a few days ago a 258 H.P. MINI. Having met the guy, and
